"Avocado or Oyster?"

I've been nursing a damaged finger for about a week and a half now. The first thing the doctor said to me was "An avocado or an oyster?" Apparently avocado injuries are mighty common and so I explained the story to him of how the knife slipped and went about half way into my middle finger. When it happened, my first thought was F*******CK - and then I slightly panicked bout cutting a nerve or tendon and not being able to play guitar or piano for quite some time... but after visiting UBC Urgent Care Center and 4 stitches later, I came out with a bandaged finger and that was that. Or so I thought...

A week down the line after two nights of performances at The Railway Club and Goorin's Hat Shop, my finger swelled up and the infection had set in. The next day back at the Urgent Care Centre, the Doc told me about 2-3% of wounds get infected. Of course, I had to be a part of that 3%.

Anyway, 3 days later on antibiotics, the finger's looking better and I should be back to strumming guitar and tinkling the piano in no time. I'm itching to play!

A few pics below (be warned, slightly graphic, but only slightly):

Of course my mum called literally while my finger was getting stitched up...
